Church Today
Church today was great!!! Talking about Christmas and how Jesus came to be with us on the earth. I really did enjoy it...but as anyone with children may relate...here are some of the funny moments I had. Because it was also Family Sunday.....so ALL the children got to sit in church with us. All eight. Enough said right? lol It's great to sit in church with your kids. I use to do it all the time. We were a little out of practice, but I managed to hand out pieces of paper with three words on them (they listen for these words and put a tally mark for every time they hear that word) and also passed out every pen I had on me and two of the pencils in the chair in front of me. "That should keep everyone quiet and listening, even if I have no more pens to take notes with, oh well"....then halfway through church one of the kids got the hiccups .....OMG I thought, have we never taught this child how to hiccup quietly? Apparently not, and in the middle of church is not a good time for this teaching moment. So I was trying to ignore the hiccups when my teenager got up for the 3rd time in church. My thoughts "Why can our small children make it through service and YOU can't, oh we are going talk about this later!!!" but then I saw him.....he was going to get communion....."oh, good....don't be too quick to judge" I thought. As the service went on, I listened and acknowledged every time the child next to me showed me her tally marks, with a smile....then a nod....then a 'how many times are you going to show me this??? half nod....maybe I should ignore her, well everyone is watching...I'll just keep trying to smile...' Some singing as the service came to the end, and then they announce all the children can come put the ornaments they have been coloring on the Christmas tree up front. "Wait.....what??!! We didn't get any ornaments.....where were those?? that would have been nice to know." Merry Christmas
